Back again at Katmere Academy were we left off on Crave’s cliff hanger. Nothing at the academy has changed besides Grace’s memory loss. Everything feels off to her, especially since Hundson, Jaxon’s evil brother is living in her head. Going through the motions Grace is fighting for her life to get Hudson out of her head trying to keep herself and everyone else safe.
My words for this book = wow. I LOVED IT! I will go out on a limb here to, to say that it was even better than the first one. So much was going on within this read. Grace’s new powers, her memory loss, Hudson in her head, and Jaxon fighting for her attention.
These books truly have a way of just sucking me down a rabit hole into their world. Dragons, vampires, witches, wolves, and now a gargoyle! You couldn’t ask for a more diverse crew.
I have always been a monster, Grace. You’re the one who has made me human.
You know when you make a prediction at the beginning of the book about what will happen in the end, and then it comes true! Well my prediction had me screaming at the end ‘I KNEW IT!!!” But, I won’t say any spoilers to keep the excitement.
Anyways, this book really had a way of touching my heart strings at the end. (Please tell me I’m not the only one to get teary eyed at anything emotional or sappy) It’s true, had a lump in my throat and held back my tears at a few of these scenes.
Grace and Jaxon’s relationship faces more trials within this book especially since Hudson is living rent free in Grace’s head. Jaxon still says sweet things that melt Grace’s and my heart, but his stubbornness is something that really develops into this book. Although these characters are teens in high school I feel they are all very mature for their age. Especially Grace, she puts her perspective to both sides of the story and is true to her belief. I love that about her and how morally strong of a character she is.
In the first book I felt like things began to get a little repetitive. Crush, definitely took a turn for the better! Every step of the way was something new and exciting in their journey. There was a lot of adventure in this book compared to the first which was mostly things going on within the school. Many new characters were introduced as well.
10/10 for me. I really love this series and the third book is already on the way. If you are looking for a good YA read please pick this up!!!
