There was a lot of hype around this book when I was going into it, so I must say my expectations were high. This book definitely didn’t disappoint. My biggest dislike about this book is how slow it is in the beginning. I would say it took about half of the book to get to any action and truly start getting into the story. So if you do decide to pick up this book be prepared to get through the slow part because after that it is so worth it!
Once the excitement of the book picked up you got to start seeing more of the characters and their personalities.
The main character Feyre is forced to pay her dept after killing one of the faeries as she was hunting. For her punishment she is required to go stay with the immortal faerie Tamlin. As she is adjusting in her said “new home” her feelings for Tamlin start to turn into something more than just her captor. As her feelings for Tamlin start to grow trouble is faced within the kingdom. Feyre can either return home or fight for her lovers kingdom and the rest of the faerie world.
Now onto the good stuff! This book utterly left me with goose bumps. Sarah does a fantastic job carrying the storyline over between the two books. She has a way of making you get attached to the characters within the story. Her descriptive details allows you to really escape into the book and envision these characters and their surroundings.
Without spoiling anything, Feyre is now left drained and empty from all that she endured within the first book. Feelings for characters are shifted and new friends are made. You would think everything is perfect, but the battle is not over yet.
When looking for a young adult fantasy novel I feel that this has everything you could possibly hope for. All of the favorite tropes, you touch her and I’ll kill you, enemies to lovers, along with such a great building of tension, emotion, and a lil bit of spice.
I truly adore all the characters introduced within this book that are a part of Rhys inner circle. I appreciate that throughout the book we get a glimpse of the backstories to all the characters as it ties into the storyline with Feyre and her adventures.
ACOMAF is much faster paced than the first. The epic building of tension keeps you turning the page… I finished this book in four days.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is “to the people that look up to the stars and wish”. I adore the book and what it means in relation to the story but also how hopeful it is and optimistic. Therefore, I had to make a sticker. You can find the sticker HERE!
